of this morning's Mass, during which he (the Pope) canonised five
blesseds the Holy Father emerged into the atrium of the Vatican
Basilica to pray the Angelus with thousands of faithful who had
followed the ceremony from St. Peter's Square. Turning his attention
to Fr. Damien, he invited people "to support, through prayer and
works, those people generously committed to combating the disease
of leprosy and the other forms of 'leprosy' that are due to a
lack of love, ignorance and indifference". He
also expressed the hope that the intercession of the new saint
and of the Blessed Virgin would "free the world of leprosy". "The
Virgin Mary", Pope Benedict concluded, "is the star that guides
all journeys to sainthood. Her 'fiat' is the model of perfect
adherence to the divine will, and her 'Magnificat' expresses the
hymn of joy of the Church, which on earth already rejoices for
the great works of God, and in heaven eternally praises His glory".

there has been, thanks to God, a rapid growth of the Church in
Africa, there is sadly also an increasingly deeper fragmentation
among Christians. ... There are today also many new divisions
in Africa itself when we think on the more recent Charismatic
and Pentecostal communities, the so called independent Churches
and the sects. ...Their vitality on the African continent is reflected
in the growth of the African Independent Churches, which have
now formed an official institution, the OAIC based in Nairobi.
... A serious dialogue with these groups is not easy if not in
many cases totally impossible because of their aggressive behaviour
and - to say the least - their low theological standard. We have
to face the urgent challenge by a self-critical attitude. For
it is not enough to tell, what is wrong with them, we have to
ask what is wrong or what is deficient with our own pastoral work.
Why do so many Christians leave our Church? What are they missing

Benedict XVI went on to invoke "Mary's maternal
protection" on "the Successor of
Peter and the Church entrusted to his care. ... Queen of peace,
obtain the gift of harmony and peace for peoples and for all humankind",
he said.
"Keep our families united, which today suffer
threats from all sides, and make them centres of serenity and
harmony where patient dialogue dissipates difficulties and contrasts.
Watch especially over those that are divided or in crisis".

Lord descends from heaven at his voice, to be contained within

Orders, we would not have the Lord. Who put Him there in that
tabernacle? The priest. Who welcomed your soul at the beginning
of your life? The priest. Who feeds your soul and gives it strength
for its journey? The priest. Who will prepare it to appear before
God, bathing it one last time in the blood of Jesus Christ?
The priest, always the priest. And if this soul should happen
to die [as a result of sin], who will raise it up, who will
restore its calm and peace? Again, the priest. ... After God,
the priest is everything! ... Only in heaven will he fully realise
what he is".

in which the words and messages of the Pontiff are being transmitted

fundamental truths of our faith: original sin, ... and the victory
over that sin of the grace of Christ, a victory that shines
out sublimely in Mary Most Holy". "She is the new Eve,
wife of the new Adam, destined to be mother of all the redeemed,
... the first to be liberated from the original fall of our
first fathers".
The Pope
then entrusted to Mary "the 'smallest' of our city: first and
foremost children, especially those who are seriously ill, the
disadvantaged and those suffering the consequences of difficult
family situations", also "the elderly who are alone, ... immigrants
struggling to adjust, families striving to make ends meet, and
those who cannot find or have lost employment". He continued:
"Mary, teach us to show solidarity towards those in difficulty..."
"Your beauty", Pope Benedict went on, "ensures us that the victory
of love is possible, indeed that it is certain. It assures us
that grace is stronger than sin and that hence redemption from
any form of slavery is possible. Mary, you help us to believe
in goodness more trustingly; you encourage us to remain vigilant
and not to give in to the temptation of facile forms of evasion,
to face reality ... with courage and responsibility". "Be a
loving mother to our young people, that they may have the courage

for souls in purgatory. As traditional on All Souls Day, the
Holy Father went down to the Vatican Grottoes to pray privately
for the Popes buried there, and for all the deceased. The Holy
Father concluded: "The prayer of a pilgrim
soul in the world can help another soul that continues purifying
itself after death. This is why today the Church invites us
to pray for our deceased loved ones and to spend time at their

for spread of Pentecostalism and other sects, we must ask what
is the reason behind their success. This is a challenge for the
Church's pastoral ministry towards so-called 'baptised catechumens'.
Fr. Julian Carron, President of the Communion and Liberation Association:
We are deeply concerned about the influence
sects and new religious groups have on the Catholic faithful,
an influence that sometimes even brings them to abandon the Church.
The Pope celebrated Mass in the square of the Shrine of the Blessed
Virgin of the Rosary, Pompeii, 19 Oct 2008. At the end of the
homily the Pope highlighted the importance of praying the Rosary:
"It is a contemplative prayer that is accessible
to all: large and small, laity and clergy, the learned and the
uneducated. It is the spiritual bond with Mary that allows us
to remain united to Jesus, to conform ourselves to Him, to assimilate
His feelings, and to act as He acted. The rosary is a spiritual
'weapon' in the fight against evil and all violence, for peace
in our hearts, our families, our society, and our world".
At the end of Mass and before praying the Angelus, Benedict XVI
led the Supplication to the Virgin of the Rosary written by Blessed
Longo in 1883.
The Pope invoked the protection of the Virgin of Pompeii upon
all families of the world, "already thinking of the Sixth World
Meeting of Families, due to take place in Mexico City in 2009".

Benedict XVI performed an act of consecration to Mary which concluded
with the consignment of a golden rose to Our Lady of Bonaria.
Following the morning's Mass and before praying the Angelus, the
Holy Father recalled other Pontiffs who have paid homage to Our
Lady of Bonaria. He mentioned Blessed Pius IX who ordered her
coronation, St. Pius X who proclaimed her Patroness of Sardinia,
Servant of God Paul VI who on 24 April 1970 became the first Pope
to touch Sardinian soil in more than 1650 years, and "the beloved
John Paul II" who prayed before the image on 20 October 1985.
"May the Holy Virgin continue to watch over
each and everyone", said Pope Benedict.
In particular, may the Virgin protect those who at this moment
most need her maternal intervention: children and young people,
the elderly and families, the sick and all those who suffer".
Then, recalling the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, he called on
"Mary Mother of the Word incarnate and our
Mother, to protect all earthly mothers: those who, together with
their husbands, educate children in a harmonious family atmosphere,
and those who, for so many reasons, find themselves facing such
an arduous task alone. May all of them devotedly and faithfully
undertake their daily service in the family, in the Church and

It's OK to Believe in Aliens.
According to an Associated Press report, "believing that the universe
may contain alien life does not contradict a faith in God, the
Vatican's chief astronomer said in an interview published Tuesday.
The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican
Observatory, was quoted as saying the vastness of the universe
means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside
Earth, even intelligent ones. 'How can we rule out that life may
have developed elsewhere?' Funes said. 'Just as we consider earthly
creatures as "a brother," and "sister," why should we not talk
about an "extraterrestrial brother"? It would still be part of
creation.' In the interview by the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore
Romano, Funes said that such a notion 'doesn't contradict our

PRAYER
OF THE POPE TO OUR LADY OF SHESHAN VATICAN CITY,
16 MAY 2008 (VIS) - Benedict XVI has composed a prayer to Our
Lady of Sheshan to mark the Day of Prayer for the Church in
China, which is due to be celebrated on 24 May. In a Letter written
to the faithful of the Catholic Church in China in May 2007, the
Holy Father expressed the hope that 24 May, liturgical memorial
of Our Lady Help of Christians who is venerated with such devotion
at the Marian shrine of Sheshan in Shanghai, would become a day
of prayer for the Church in China. The full text of the English-language
version of the Holy Father's prayer is given below:
"Virgin Most Holy, Mother of the Incarnate Word and our Mother,
venerated in the Shrine of Sheshan under the title 'Help of Christians',
the entire Church in China looks to you with devout affection.
We come before you today to implore your protection. Look
upon the People of God and, with a mother's care, guide them along
the paths of truth and love, so that they may always be a leaven
of harmonious coexistence among all citizens.
"When you obediently said 'yes' in the house of Nazareth, you
allowed God's eternal Son to take flesh in your virginal womb
and thus to begin in history the work of our redemption.
You willingly and generously co-operated in that work, allowing
the sword of pain to pierce your soul, until the supreme hour
of the Cross, when you kept watch on Calvary, standing beside
your Son, Who died that we might live.
"From that moment, you became, in a new way, the Mother of
all those who receive your Son Jesus in faith and choose to
follow in His footsteps by taking up His Cross. Mother of hope,
in the darkness of Holy Saturday you journeyed with unfailing
trust towards the dawn of Easter. Grant that your children
may discern at all times, even those that are darkest, the signs
of God's loving presence.
"Our Lady of Sheshan, sustain all those in China, who,

your Son on high, offering him to the world with open arms in

According to a decree made public today and signed by Cardinal
James Francis Stafford and Bishop Gianfranco Girotti, O.F.M. Conv.,
respectively penitentiary major and regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary,
Benedict XVI will grant the faithful Plenary Indulgence for the
occasion of the two-thousandth anniversary of the birth of the
Apostle Paul. The Plenary Indulgence will be valid throughout
the Pauline Year which is due to run from 28 June 2008 to 29 June
2009.
The means to obtain the Plenary Indulgence are as follows:
"All Christian faithful - truly repentant, duly purified by the
Sacrament of Penance and restored with Holy Communion - who undertake
a pious visit in the form of a pilgrimage to the papal basilica
of St. Paul on Rome's Via Ostiense and pray in accordance with
the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, are granted and imparted
Plenary Indulgence for the temporal punishment of their sins,
once they have obtained sacramental remission and forgiveness
for their shortcomings.
"Plenary Indulgence may be gained by the Christian faithful, either
for themselves or for the deceased, as many times as the aforementioned
acts are undertaken; it remains the case, however, that Plenary
Indulgence may be obtained only once a day.
"In order that the prayers pronounced on these holy visits may
lead and draw the souls of the faithful to a more intense veneration
of the memory of St. Paul, the following conditions are laid down:
the faithful, apart from pronouncing their own prayers before
the altar of the Blessed Sacrament, ... must go to the altar of
the Confession and pray the 'Our Father' and the 'Creed', adding
pious invocations in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St.
Paul; and such acts of devotion must remain closely linked to
the memory of the Prince of the Apostles St. Peter".
"Christian faithful from the various local Churches, under the
usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion,
prayer in keeping with the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff)
and completely unattached to any form of sin, may still obtain
the Plenary Indulgence if they participate devotedly in a religious
function or in a pious exercise held publicly in honour of the
Apostle of the Gentiles: on the days of the solemn opening and

och säger: Heliga Maria, Guds moder…, då kallar du på Maria, du
ber direkt till henne. När du ber framför en staty eller en bild,
eller lägger blommor framför hennes staty, eller tänder ljus,
så ber du till hennes bild. Vem är jag att döma om vilka böner
Gud godtar eller inte? Det kan jag inte, men Gud har talat klart
och tydligt när Han säger: "Du skall inte ha andra gudar vid sidan
av mig. Du skall inte göra dig någon bildstod eller någon avbild
av det som är uppe i himlen eller nere på jorden eller av det
som är i vattnet under jorden…". Jag vill få säga att medan jag
bad rosenkransen eller var framför en staty, så var jag nästan
alltid böjd ner. Gud har gett sin ståndpunkt när det gäller bön
och tillbedjan. Kort och klart, han har även dokumenterat att

I en intervju i Världen idag 070919 med pingspastor
Sten-Gunnar Hedin berördes frågan om huruvida kristna
och muslimer ber till samma Gud. Enligt artikeln hänvisar
Sten-Gunnar Hedin till "påven Johannes" och menar
att när påven tillsammans med muslimska ledare bad
för fred i Assisi 1986, så bad de inte till samma Gud.
Hedin blir dock tillrättavisad av Anders Arborelius pressekreterare
Maria Hasslegren som 071001 skriver: Grundläggande
för katolsk gudsbild och människosyn är att vi
alla är skapade till Guds avbild. När vi vänder
oss till en högre makt är det till samma Gud vi vänder
oss, eftersom det är den ende sanne Guden som talar till
oss alla i vårt inre.
Franciskus av Assisi hade dock en helt annan inställning
om detta än nutida påvarna. När han och hans medhjälpare
mötte Sultanen för att omvända honom säger

The Pope
then (14/5) went on to highlight how to rely upon the intercession
of Mary is "a sure way to remain united to Christ." He also recalled
the apparition of the Virgin to the shepherd children at Fatima
on May 13, 1917. "The message she entrusted to them," the Holy
Father said, "was a powerful call to prayer and conversion; a
truly prophetic message if we consider the twentieth century's
burden of unprecedented destruction caused by wars and totalitarian
regimes, as well as the widespread persecutions against the Church."
Benedict XVI also mentioned the attack against John Paul II on
May 13, 1981 when the Pope "felt he had been saved from death
by the intercession of 'a maternal hand,' ... and his entire pontificate
was marked by what the Virgin had announced at Fatima." He concluded:
"Although there has been no lack of worries and suffering, and
if there are still reasons for apprehension over the future of
humanity, there is comfort to be had
in what the 'White Lady' promised the shepherd children: 'In the
end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph'."

slut triumfera, det är ett annat evangelium och en annan
frälsare som påven vilseletts av än det kristna

En nunna ska nämligen ha tillfrisknat efter att ha bett
till Johannes Paulus II efter hans död. Efter ett mirakel
till så kan han helgonförklaras, dvs. om det kan
konstateras att ytterligare någon fler blivit mirakulöst
helad eller hjälpt efter att ha bett till Johannes Paulus
II. Kan en död påve hela människor? Var i Bibeln
har vi tillåtelse att be till de döda? Vad säger
detta om den kyrka som tillåter detta?

de döda). Detta stod i ett telegram som Vatikanen sände
060217 till biskop Cantillas på Filippinerna med anledning
av det stora jordskredet som drabbat en större by. Tyvärr
är det för sent att be någon efter att de dött.

Plenary Indulgence will be granted "to the faithful who,
under the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Eucharistic
communion and prayer in keeping with the intentions of the Holy
Father), and with the soul completely removed from attachment
to any form of sin, participate on February 11 (2006) at the cathedral
of Adelaide, or at any other place decided by the ecclesiastical
authorities, in a sacred ceremony held to beseech God to grant
the goals of the World Day of the Sick."
The faithful who, "through sickness, old age or similar reason,
are prevented from participating in the aforementioned ceremony,
may obtain the Plenary Indulgence if, with the soul completely
removed from attachment to any form of sin and with the intention
of observing, as soon as they can, the conditions required, they
spiritually participate together with the Holy Father in the aforesaid
ceremony, pray devotedly for the sick, and offer - through the
Virgin Mary 'Health of the Sick' - their physical and spiritual
sufferings to God."
Partial Indulgence, the text of the decree concludes, will
be conceded to "all the faithful whenever, between February 9
and 11, with a contrite heart they raise devout prayers to the
merciful Lord calling for these aspirations to be met in order
to help the sick."

2005 vallfärdade 2500 katoliker till Vadstena. Den påvlige
nuntien Giovanni Tonucci var närvarande och framförde
en särskild hälsning till de församlade från
påven där han anförtrodde de församlade
åt Maria. Genom att uppmana alla at be om den Heliga Birgittas
beskydd, ger han av hela sitt hjärta sin Apostoliska Välsignelse.

För 40 år sedan antog Andra Vatikankonciliet i Rom deklarationen
"Nostra aetate". Vatikanen hänvisar också till detta
dokumentet: Mentioning Buddhism and many
other religions, it states that "the Catholic Church rejects
nothing of what is true and holy in these religions".

världens kristna fira nattvard tillsammans? Kardinal Francis Arinze:
Vi
kan fira nattvard tillsammans när vi tror på samma saker, när
vi är i samma kyrka, när vi erkänner påvens överhöghet över kyrkan,
vi kan inte tänka på den katolska tron utan påven och biskoparna,
vår tro är ett enda stycke, vi kan fortsätta att ha olika riter
men det ska vara en och samma tro, då kan vi ha nattvard tillsammans.
Den evangeliska kristenheten måste alltså bli katoliker
och erkänna påvens överhöghet över kyrkan
för att kunna fira nattvard tillsammans med katolikerna.

vad bibeln säger om Jesus eller också tror man det
inte, och Roelvink tror uppenbarligen INTE på allt vad
bibeln säger!

Varför
firar biskop Anders Arborelius och katolska kyrkor över
hela världen requiem-mässor för att be Gud att ta
emot påven i himlen? Jo,
därför att de tror att påven liksom de flesta
katoliker först hamnar i skärselden. Requiemmässor
påskyndar de stackars själarna i skärselden
till att snabbare komma in i himlen. Påven trodde på
skärselden. En mässa för de döda kallas
för requiemmässa. Här följer ett svar som

is. Very few go directly to heaven, I think. So it is possible
that he is undergoing the Final Purification, or Purgatory.
He was a remarkable man. All who die in God's grace and friendship,

salvation. However, after death they undergo purification, so
as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.
Purgatory is the name given by the Church to this final purification
of the elect. This is entirely different from the punishment
of the damned who go to hell for all eternity. The doctrine
of faith on Purgatory was formulated by the Church, especially
at the Councils of Florence and Trent.
